Description
Boyle's Law Apparatus for Education The Boyle's Law Apparatus for Education is an excellent tool for teaching students of all ages about the relationship between the volume and pressure of a sealed volume of air at a constant temperature (Boyle's law). Compact and lightweight, it can be placed on any desk to allow for easy demonstrations and hands-on examinations by students, making it a great choice for keeping children engaged with their physics and chemistry classes. What's Included? 1 x Pressure Cylinder 1 x Scale 1 x Pressure Gauge Key Features and Benefits Demonstrates Boyle's (Boyle-Marriott) law to students of all ages Compact and lightweight design makes it ideal for classroom experiments Incredibly safe to use, utilising a protective cylinder and acrylic glass Hands-on design makes it perfect for engaging students with their lessons How Does the Boyle's Law Apparatus Work? This physics and chemistry lesson apparatus has been designed to demonstrate the relationship between the volume and pressure of a sealed volume of air at a constant temperature, otherwise known as Boyle's law. It consists of a closed plexiglass cylinder and a sliding piston that determines the enclosed volume, a scale for volume determination, and a manometer for pressure determination. To use the apparatus, simply follow the steps below: Turn the piston back and forth so that the gaskets come into contact with the silicone oil Set the piston to the desired point, e.g., 20cm, and let air into the cylinder to equalise the air inside the surrounding atmosphere (p = 1 bar) Close the air inlet/outlet valve Move the piston to a new position by turning the threaded shaft Read off the piston position and the pressure Calculate the volume using the following expression, where d = 50mm, V0 = 20cm3 Plot the measurement on the graph If you'd like a more detailed explanation of how to use your apparatus, you'll find it in the user guide. Keeps Students Engaged The Boyle's Law Apparatus is an excellent choice for teaching students of all ages about Boyle's law. Its compact and lightweight design is key to this, allowing teachers to place it on any desk to conduct hands-on experiments. This makes it easier to keep students engaged with their class for maximum educational value. How Safe is the Boyle's Law Apparatus to Use? The Physics Lesson Apparatus is incredibly safe to ensure it can be used in any educational setting. The working cylinder is surrounded by an additional protective cylinder made of acrylic glass, which is impact-resistant and perfect for busy classrooms. It also features an overpressure valve that opens at a possible overpressure of 3.5 bar. What Is Boyle's Law? Boyle's law, otherwise known as the law of Boyle-Marriott, describes the relationship between the pressure and volume of a gas when its temperature and number of particles are held constant. In other words, if you increase the pressure of a gas, its volume decreases and vice versa, as long as the temperature stays the same.
